At Get Into Recovery, we believe that the path to recovery is not just a journey but a profound learning experience. By integrating educational principles such as William Glasser’s “how we learn,” Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the Conscious Competence Model, we transform the traditional 12-Step Program into a dynamic and effective process.

How We Learn (William Glasser): According to William Glasser, we learn 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we see and hear, 70% of what we discuss with others, 80% of what we experience personally, and 95% of what we teach to others. By incorporating these insights, we design our program to maximise active participation, discussion, personal experience, and teaching opportunities. This approach ensures a deeper, more lasting understanding of the 12 steps.

Bloom’s Taxonomy: This framework categorises learning objectives into six levels: knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. By structuring the 12-Step Program within these levels, we facilitate a deeper understanding and mastery of each step. Participants not only learn what the steps are but how to apply, analyse, and integrate them into their lives, fostering lasting change.

Conscious Competence Model: This model outlines four stages of learning—unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, conscious competence, and unconscious competence. In recovery, moving through these stages helps individuals become aware of their behaviours and gradually develop the skills and habits necessary for sustained sobriety. By guiding participants through these stages, we help them achieve a level of proficiency where the principles of the 12 steps become second nature.

By embedding these educational frameworks into the 12-Step Program, Get Into Recovery ensures a comprehensive, effective, and personalised approach to overcoming addiction. Our methods not only impart knowledge but also empower individuals with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in their recovery journey. Join us in redefining the pathway to recovery through the power of education.
