An introduction to William Glasser’s How We Learn.
This Learning Pyramid (as it is often referred to) has become a popular tool in education and training, outlining how different methods of teaching contribute to learning retention. Here’s a slightly different breakdown that should aid in your understanding, it also emphasises the need t blend methodologies.
Conscious Competence model.
Another important method to be aware of and understand is the Conscious Competence model. This tool has helped many people struggling to find recovery understand that again learning is a process, that its OK not to get it in the beginning and that others have all been through this process – especially when it comes to learning a new way of living.
Here is our introduction to Bloom’s Taxonomy.
It is really important to get to grips with this methodology to help you or your sponsees / clients up the learning ladder. If you know why you are learning things in this way then it will be of great benefit to you in your recovery journey, not only when doing the Integrated Step Course but also when your out there in the real world.

So here is part two of Bloom’s Taxonomy which includes the learning experiment, I hope you enjoy it and that it really makes you understand that;
A. Your brain is a marvelous machine.
and
B. You and your sponsees / clients will gain greatly from realising that they are capable of fabulous things.
Addiction is a Disease
Let’s taker a look at the disease model, in particular looking at the definition given by ASAM, the American Society of Addiction Medicine. You may not agree with this defintion but we do. I have struggled in the past with the concept of addiction being a disease, to me and my medical background a disease was something you caught – like Malaria, Typhoid or the Flu. After studying this definition and working for multiple years in this area I now have to agree that addiction leads to a diseased body with all sorts of complications from cancers to brain disease.
